It is a non-surgical treatment that uses plasma to instantly shrink, tighten and eliminate loose and excess skin. Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening is a soft surgery procedure targeting a wide variety of skin conditions including loss of elasticity, sagging and wrinkles that have traditionally been treated with fillers or plastic surgery.

During the treatment, a handheld device called a Plasma Pen emits a plasma plume that causes a controlled, superficial burn to the epidermis. The plasma plume is a very small electrical arc which is formed through the ionisation of atmospheric gasses to stimulate the instant contraction and tightening of the skin. The plume evaporates and leaves a very small brown mark. The controlled damage process instantly shrinks the targeted skin, causing the skin tissue to retract and tighten giving you a more youthful looking skin.

The treatment is mildly to moderately uncomfortable. We do apply a medical grade topical anaesthetic to the area but everyone’s pain threshold is different and some areas of the body are more sensitive than others. 

Plasma Fibroblast is able to treat a number of imperfections, particularly in the face and neck regions, without any actual cutting of the skin. It can be used for:

It’s vitally important for you to get a clear idea of exactly what the treatment entails and what you’re signing yourself up for in terms of the risks and contraindications. It’s also essential for us to discuss your expectations to ensure that they are realistic. 

The positive effects of the treatment will be noticeable immediately  after the first treatment, but the best results will be seen after 4 weeks. Your skin will continue to tighten over the next 8 weeks, giving a further tightening and lifting effect. 

Plasma Fibroblast is more than a simple tightening treatment, skin is actually removed, so the effects should last as long as they would with invasive surgery. Like all surgical and cosmetic procedures, the effects of plasma treatment are not entirely permanent as it does not stop any further ageing. But, the positive results should last you years depending on the area treated. 

The number of treatments required will vary according to the condition being treated, the skin’s laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to the treatment. Most clients see results instantly and this continues to improve over the course of the following 8 weeks. Further treatments can be carried out to get better results, although it is uncommon to require more than 3 treatments. Appointments must be spaced out by 8 weeks. 

Immediately after treatment, the area will be red and mildly swollen with small scabs and discoloration. You may experience a sensation similar to a sunburn which will likely last a few hours. Swelling may intensify over the following few hours and more so when eyes are treated and may last 2-3 days. The scabs/discoloration should resolve within 5 -12 days depending on the individual and area treated. Results are seen instantly after the treatment, although this gradually improves over the course of the following 8 weeks. Essentially there is downtime, but it is considerably less then with surgery.

On the day, it is recommended that no make-up is worn on the treatment area. We suggest taking an anti-histamine 60 minutes prior to your appointment to help with swelling and would urge you to continue to take anti-histamines for 2-3 days following your appointment. 

A medical grade numbing agent is applied and left to take effect for up to 45 minutes. When the treatment area is sufficiently numb, the session begins with multiple connections of the plasma tip, spaced closely together. You will feel some heat in the treatment area, which may be uncomfortable and slightly irritating. Treatment time is usually between 10-40 minutes, depending on the size of the area. Following the treatment, you will be given thorough aftercare instructions to ensure that you see the best results.
